Some stores bought vegetables and herbs are really easy to regrow with very little effort and time. Here is a list of vegetables and herbs which can regrow easily. I’ll update this list continuously.
1. Ginger
Get a large piece of ginger, It should be at least 2 inches long and 2 inches wide. Break the ginger into parts and plant it in a pot that contains lots of compost. Remember to plant it about 1 inch deep from the top. Water ginger after planting. After about one month shoots of ginger will be visible and ginger will start to grow and produce more ginger.
2. Green Onions
Get some store bought green onions, cut the bottom part of the onion with at least half of inch with roots. Plants the onion by covering roots completely in soil. Onions will start to grow shoots. Harvest shoots and add to your foods as desired.
3. Garlic
Get a big piece of garlic and break it into cloves. Only use big cloves for planting. Garlic should be planted about a length deep and hand length apart. When planting remember to plant it as flat end down and pointy end up. Plant the garlic in a garden bed or container with loose soil. In about 8~9 month plants will produce big garlic bulbs.
4. Potatoes
Potatoes are very easy to grow. When potatoes grow little eyes you can simply plant the whole potato in the ground. Dig a hole in your garden bed and plan potatoes, eyes facing up. Cover with soil and these plants will provide more potatoes.
5. Carrots
Cut the top part of some store bought carrots, make sure the top part contains at least one inch. Plant the carrots facing down the cut part. After one week carrots start to grow leaves and after one months leaves grow big. Plants will not produce more carrots, but you’ll get leaves and can be added to salads or food of your choice.
6. Lettuce
Lettuce is very easy to regrow. Cut the bottom part of the lettuce, Plant the lettuce with flat end down by digging a hole in the pot. Remember to completely cover the bottom part of lettuce from soil. After two weeks plants start to regrow. Some plants might not make it however at least half of the plants will regrow.
